A outsider perspective on things

So like the titles said, I am a outsider to this community. I have played a little bit of the game (a hour or two max) before finding out about everything that is going on. some people will write off what I have to say bc of this fact (what is fair, I'm just a random on the internet) but I have been looking into this all night and just want to scream my opinion into the void.

1) My perspective

like I said I am a outsider to the game (for the good and the bad that does) so I have very limited emotionally attachment to the game it self and how this situation is effecting it. I enjoy Gianni Matragrano work in other games (Ultrakill), I've enjoyed of what I've seen of him as Sebastian as well, I like lore rich works such as Pressure so I'm sad that this game cant become another special interest of mine like many other lore rich games/books/tv/etc, other than that I have no attachment to pressure itself. secondly I have autism, I though this was worth mentioning since Zeal also has autism (I am aware that everyone with autism is different I still think it has a part to play in my perspective on the situation) (also I have dyslexia so I apologies for any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, I tried to double check for any but their still gonna be some)

2) What I think of Ren

I'm doing this part first bc I have less to say about Ren than Zeal. First, I support all victims of SA who come out no matter what, I think no matter what happened (I will be getting into what I think happened later) it was clearly a event that she now looks back on poorly and she is clearly hurt with it, as such I mean no harm towards her. That being said, from all that I have seen, Ren seems to be manipulative, I personally do not think she is a good person. THIS DOES NOT MEAN she deserved what happened, god no, no one deserves something like that (do not twist my words)

3) What I think of Zeal

I also don't think Zeal is a good person (TBH I think they are both bad people) At fist I gave him the benefit of the doubt with a lot of his weird comments due to his autism (this is partial due to my own bias) I myself can struggle greatly with understand what is okay to say and when, with social cues, and social norms. I myself have said some really weird things to people, and looking back I really wish I hadn't. with that being said, I was projecting slightly, when reading his messages I was projecting the times when I said weird things to my friends and people I know. but the key difference is to who he was saying those things, his employees, people who he holds significant power over, If you said something wrong to a friend, they can tell you that wasn't okay and it made them feel uncomfortable, its far harder to say that however when that person controls your finances, your ability to buy food, pay rent, to live. what he said was wrong, and also IMO due to who he was saying it to misogynistic as he was primarily targeting them towards fem presenting/AFAB people, you can not be talking to your employees that way, power dynamics are a very real and very dangerous thing

4) The matter of SA and consent

To start with a small example where I think Zeal did not get proper consent is when he first met Ren IRL, as stated in both their docs, he throw her up in the air and manhandled her. Yes he did pervious get her consent to do so, as she had previously seem enthusiastic about the idea, he still should have gotten her consent again in the moment, he should have simply asked for her consent before he did it then and their. of course this is a smaller problem compared to the SA allegations but I think its sets a consistent example of Zeal's not preforming his due diligence when it comes to consent.

Onto the actual alleged SA. firstly IMO we can never truly know one way or the other, we can have opinions and speculate but other than that, not much else. I see a lot of people who defend Zeal saying you cant withdraw your consent later (I know this is not his only defence and not everyone makes it, but its one I want to address, I am not trying to make a strawman of his defenders) I feel that is twisting the satiation, and is a strawman, what you can do is say that looking back at the situation you realise you didn't truly give consent.

First, I do not think Ren was in the right mind to give true consent, she was emotionally unstable at the time, as such I don't think she could have given true and meaningful consent to the situation. once things got heated it was Zeal's responsibility to stop, as Ren was in a emotionally vulnerable state I believe it was his responsibility to cut things off before they continued and crossed that line, considering the fact he was not the one who had a break down, since he didn't he took advantage of her emotional state, if he meant to or not, I cant say or know, as such I wont, but he did take advantage of that, maliciously or not.

Second, In Zeal's doc, he stats that Ren was giggling and laughing during their experience, he stats this to claim that it was consensual. while you can interpret it that was, I personally don't, laughing can be from being nervous or as a fear response, I believe this was the case. Again, I can not and will not claim to know if Zeal knowingly ignored or misinterpret this. as I previously stated he should not have went as far as he did that night considering Ren's emotional state to begin with, as I said, I believe she was not in the correct mental space as to give legal consent. a drunk person can not give consent and in the same fashion someone who just had a mental breakdown can not give it either. I follow by a simple rule when it comes to consent in a sexual manner, If you are in a position where a doctor can not get legal consent to preform a medical intervention on you, then you are also not in a position to give true, and meaningful consent for sexual activities.

5) Final thoughts

Some of you may say I'm stating the obvious or I'm wrong or etc, etc. I am willing to hear other peoples thoughts out as long as they are done respectfully and I am willing to elaborate on certain points if asked to do so. this is more so done for my own sake than anything else, as I wished to get my thoughts on this situation out of my head and express my feelings. I am but a simply internet stranger, as such my thoughts and feelings do not truly matter, especially in a situation as serious as this. I support Ren as I would anyone else who is brave enough to come out, while I do support her, that does not mean I am blind to, or approve in how she has acted and treated certain people in the past who where a part of the pressure team. this world is not black and white. we need to treat this situation with seriousness it deserves. I wish Ren the best in the future and hope she can heal. I do not believe harassing Ren, Zeal, or anyone else is productive. we should be able to discus these topics without resorting to harassment, insults, death threats, doxing, and spreading lies. I also do not support the person who leaked all the game assets, it does not matter what you think of Zeal, the leak hurt the entire team, not just him. two wrongs do not make a right.
