# Data Analysis with AI? True Magic!

TRAE AI Talk Ep #3 featured Guoan from the Strategy and Business Analytics team at TRAE. He walked us through how to completely upgrade your data analysis workflow — turning five hours of manual spreadsheet headaches into just one hour of streamlined agent work.

In case you missed it, here are the biggest highlights, workflows, and "magic" moments from the demo!

# The Core Philosophy: You are the Architect

Before diving into the tech, Guoan laid out the mindset needed for the new era of data analysis:

* **AI Replaces Execution, Not Thinking:** You should let AI handle the tedious tasks, while you focus on the overarching strategy and insights.
* **Human as Architect:** In this new paradigm, humans act as the architects while AI serves as the full-stack executor.
* **Trust, but Verify:** Always validate the AI's outputs; you can even use the AI to systematically audit its own logic and data.

# Why TRAE SOLO > Standard Chatbots (like ChatGPT)

Guan broke down exactly why dropping data into a standard LLM chat window often ends in frustration, and how SOLO fixes it:

* **Massive Data Scale:** SOLO handles massive datasets (millions of rows) that would normally crash Excel or exceed a standard chatbot's context window. It achieves this by writing and executing Python scripts to understand the data.
* **Fully Autonomous Loop:** Instead of you manually copying, pasting, and debugging code from a chat, SOLO autonomously plans, codes, executes, debugs, and delivers the result.
* **No Black Boxes:** SOLO offers full logic transparency, meaning every line of code written and every piece of data generated is fully auditable.
* **Reusable Skills:** Once you perfect a workflow, you can save it as a "Skill" to apply the exact same high-quality analysis to new datasets with just one click.

# The 3 Mind-Blowing Live Demos

**1. Sales Data Analysis (CSV → Insights → Charts → Report)** Guoan dragged a messy CSV into SOLO and asked for a comprehensive overview.

* The agent generated trend comparison line charts and identified which regions grew the fastest and which declined.
* SOLO generated a clean, formatted final analysis report containing key findings, supporting data, and action recommendations.
* **Pro-Tip:** If privacy is a concern, you can feed SOLO a "headers only" file to anonymize the data; the agent will still understand the structure and write the analysis scripts locally.

**2. E-Commerce Operations (Multi-file + Sub-agents + Unstructured Reviews)** Combining data from multiple platforms (like Amazon and Shopify) usually takes hours of formatting.

* SOLO merges data semantically — meaning it links columns by their actual meaning (e.g., "GMV" vs. "Sales Amount"), rather than just matching exact column names.
* Guoan demonstrated using **parallel sub-agents** to process unstructured data. The main agent split 200 customer reviews into batches and deployed four sub-agents concurrently to read the reviews and output sentiment analysis.

**3. Data Collection (No Data? SOLO Collects for You)** What if you don't even have the data yet? Guoan asked SOLO to grab stock prices for Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla for the last six months.

* Without being given a specific **API**, SOLO autonomously found the Yahoo Finance API, wrote the script, and downloaded the closing prices.
* SOLO then **scraped** Wikipedia pages live to extract context—like founding years, CEOs, and employee counts—and merged it into the stock performance table.

# Techniques Emphasized (worth stealing)

* Clear prompts → better dimensions/metrics = better outputs
* Multi-round questioning → use follow-ups to drill deeper
* AI review / self-audit → catch issues before your boss does
* Sub-agents & parallelism → speed up batch work (like review labeling)
* Skills = reusable SOP → turn a workflow into a repeatable template
* Anonymization approach → share headers + sample rows so the agent can draft scripts; execution stays local

# Q&A Quick Hits

**1. Are PowerPoints, Excel, PDF files supported in TRAE SOLO?**

Yes, the new SOLO supports viewing and editing Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, and HTML files directly within the platform, so you don't have to keep downloading and uploading files.

**2. Can SOLO build PowerPoint decks?**
Yes, in fact the presentation deck Guoan used during the live stream was completely generated by SOLO.

**3.** **Is SOLO free? How do limits work?**

SOLO Desktop + Web is now in beta and currently **FREE**. All Pro/Pro+/Ultra members get access to SOLO be default while others need an invitation code in beta.
