Honda focuses on Setup instead of bringing new Parts (Jerez Test 2026)
Aside from a solid showing by Johann Zarco, Honda endured a difficult Spanish GP 2026. Despite frequent testing at the circuit, the riders struggled to find a competitive setup over the race weekend.
That focus carried into the official test at Jerez, where Honda opted not to introduce new components. Instead, the team concentrated entirely on refining setup and improving rider feeling. A deliberate shift away from constant hardware changes.
According to Johan Zarco, this approach allowed for more consistent feedback and a clearer understanding of the bike’s behavior.
As Zarco said.
"It makes my job easier. When we can focus fully on the set-up and driving style, we get clearer feedback. You get a consistent feel when riding. When you have new parts, it can sometimes work really well.
But you always have to take the time to adapt. A rider can make a big difference if they have a really good feel for everything. Good set-up and a good feel can make a bigger difference than a new swingarm."
