Why do so many old-school companies here use “Marketing Pte Ltd” in their name?

General

Was driving through an industrial area the other day and something random caught my eye.

A lot of the older warehouses and small businesses have names with “Marketing Pte Ltd” in them… but they don’t actually seem to be doing anything related to marketing. Like I saw a traditional biscuit shop using “___ Marketing Pte Ltd”. Then it reminded me of those towels or household stuff you buy from markets, and the manufacturer is also something like “___ Marketing Pte Ltd”.

Even in JB industrial areas, noticed the same too.

Just curious if anyone knows why this naming is so common? Is it like a legacy thing, or some business registration workaround back in the day?

Also wondering if anyone else has noticed this before or I’m just overthinking random things after lunch 😅
