Transfer of property/pets with restraining order
Location: Springfield OR.
I just got a restraining order approved for my ex today but it didn’t get fully processed and sent to the sheriff today. So it will be another day or two until they get served and removed from my house. When that happens they will be homeless as they have no where to go. They don’t know any of this is happening as that would be a safety risk and I’m honestly pretty scared of the whole police taking them away process as I have pets in the house. My issue is that I don’t know how to deal with the transfer of their pets and property. All I was able to find out was that they will have 20 minutes to grab essentials. And if they want anything else they’ll have to request that through the court or something. But I know they don’t know how to do that and they won’t be able to contact me to arrange something because of the order. There’s a storage unit with their stuff I could move all their stuff to. But it’s in my name as the place wouldn’t let them lease it as they didn’t have a drivers license. So how would I arrange them moving their stuff to a new unit in their name. Or can I send them a message that they need to get their stuff by a certain date or it’s all getting donated. Or does that open it up for them to sue me for getting rid of their stuff. And what about their pets. I don’t want to keep them long term. What is the safest option for me to do to get their belongings and pets out of my life that doesn’t pose legal risk with the restraining order?
