If your WooCommerce store has multiple bookable products - rooms, rentals, services, appointments, customers landing on your shop page have no quick way to find what's actually available on their dates. They click through product after product, hit a fully booked one, and leave. That drop-off is avoidable.

The Bookings and Appointments for WooCommerce plugin has a built-in Bookings Search Availability Widget that adds a date-based search bar directly to your store, no custom code, no third-party search plugin needed.

Full setup guide: How to Add a WooCommerce Bookings Search Bar

Setup takes about 5 minutes:

Go to Appearance → Widgets → find Bookings Search Availability Widget → drag it into your sidebar, header, or any widget area → give it a display name like "Check Availability" → Save.

Customers see From and To date fields on the shop page. They pick their dates, hit search, and only available products show up in results. Fully booked products are automatically excluded.

Filter options worth knowing about:

The widget isn't just a date picker; it has several filter types depending on how your business works:

  • Date Range - default mode, From and To dates. Best for rentals and accommodation
  • Fixed Date - single date field for one-day events or workshops
  • Filter by Day - restrict search to specific days of the week if you don't operate every day
  • Filter by Time - adds a time selector for hour-based bookings like appointments or studio sessions
  • Filter by Participants - customers specify group size; only products with enough capacity appear
  • Filter by Asset - if your products are linked to room types, staff, or equipment, customers can filter by asset before picking dates

You can also rename all labels so "From / To" becomes "Check-In / Check-Out" or "Pick-Up / Return" — and control which pages the widget appears on.

Example Scenario: a store with multiple room types (standard, deluxe, suite) getting flooded with availability queries over email. After enabling the widget with date range + participants filter, customers could check availability themselves and go straight to checkout. Support queries dropped, and the shop page stopped showing fully booked rooms alongside available ones.

A few config choices that actually matter:

  • Place it at the top of the sidebar or above the product grid - a widget buried in the footer won't get used
  • Match the date filter type to how your store actually works. Hour-based bookings need Filter by Time; single-day events need Fixed Date. Mismatched filters create friction
  • Enable the Asset filter on stores with varied inventory so customers can pre-sort before picking dates
  • Rename the labels to match your business terminology - it takes under a minute and makes the widget feel native to your store
