Changing subject combination to the original one

Junior Colleges :karma:

Hi, I’m currently in J1 and I’m considering switching back to my original subject combination after previously switching out once.

I originally took H2 Biology but switched out because I thought I wasn’t interested and wanted to try another subject combination. Now after some time (Higher Education Day, speaking to ECG counsellor, and thinking through my volunteering experiences), I’ve realised I may actually be more interested in healthcare-related pathways, which makes Biology more relevant for me.

I’ve spoken to my Biology teacher and form teacher, and they are supportive of me switching back. However, I’ve missed quite a number of lessons and a test, so I know it will be a big catch-up.

I’m planning to speak to the academic head, but I’m quite worried because this would be my second switch.

Has anyone here actually switched subject combinations twice before in JC? If yes:

  • Did your school approve it?
  • What reasons did you give?
  • How strict was the process?

Would really appreciate any honest experiences from seniors. Thank you.
