Just came back from my first social
And what the heck was that?
It was so cold and cliquey. Most follows danced as if they were doing me a favour and barely worked with me. Even though I tried my hardest to give them a sturdy frame, they just danced with the motions instead of following my lead. I had no pressure to work with.
And I know this isn’t a me problem. Some follows were genuinely nice and fun to dance with because they actually gave me something to work with, and were genuinely helpful when I was falling behind.
Also, before I left, I approached one of the other leads, who was far more experienced than I am, and tried getting to know him because I thought he was interesting. I asked him how long he has been doing this but all he told me was “years,” acting as if I wasn’t worth his time.
I apologize if this breaks any rules but I am very frustrated about this. This should have been a fun night but I feel sidelined. Someone tell me this isn’t the norm because I am just about ready to quit.
