Is Firelord Azula too powerful for B3?

I’m pretty new to EDh and don’t really understand the rules. I just got yelled at by my B3 pod for pulling off a turn 6 win with Azula. I thought that I was following the rules; No game changers, no land destruction, no tutors, no extra turns. Most of my deck was made out of the bulk bin and the whole thing is probably worth less than $50. I thought the B4 was for highly optimised decks; is it bad etiquette to run a deck like this at B3?
