On This Day in Nintendo History: Pikmin 2; WarioWare: D.I.Y; And-Kensaku

On This Day

On this day (April 29) in Nintendo history...

  • Pikmin 2  was released in 2004 for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan. In this puzzle/real-time strategy game, developed by Nintendo EAD, this time joined by his assistant Louie, Captain Olimar returns to the planet of the Pikmin motivated by that noblest of goals - financial gain. Additional species of Pikmin, new two-player modes, randomly generated dungeons, and the welcome excision of time limits mean that this is much more than just a sequel. Packed with deft creative touches, Pikmin 2 strikes a beautiful balance between challenge and fun.
  • WarioWare: D.I.Y.  (known in PAL territories as WarioWare: Do It Yourself ) was released in 2009 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this action/rhythm game, developed by Intelligent Systems with Nintendo SPD, he's a crazy guy with a moustache - but nobody can deny that Wario has provided us with some monster microgame madness over the years. Now he's back with the latest in the Wario series of wacky off-the-wall microgame collections, but this time with a tempting twist - now you can create your very own microgames!
  • **And-Kensaku ** was released in 2009 for the Wii in Japan. In this minigames compilation game, developed by Shift, Kensaku means "Search", and that is the basis, presented by Kensaku, the little blue-faced robot. The game performs and internet search for a word or phrase powered by Google over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and the Hit Count of the search will determine which kind of game you will play.
