Digital MY LITTLE PONY: Friendship is Magic Rainbow Collection

Hey everypony! I recently saw there's a campaign to reissue the original MLP comics (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/boom-studios/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-rainbow-collection). They offer a DRM-free digital PDF version. Shipping to my country is pretty expensive, so I'm wondering if I can just pledge for the PDF and have a local shop print it for me. I want a physical copy without spending a fortune on shipping.

So, what exactly does 'DRM-free' mean? Is it basically just an offline file, like a PDF I made myself? If that's the case, wouldn't that lead to piracy issues? Thank you so much!
