I built a Mac transcription app that keeps your audio on your machine. Launched yesterday

I'm a laser R&D Engineer. I kept leaving meetings thinking "I'll remember this" and then not remembering it.

Every existing tool either uploads your audio to a server or sends a bot to join your call. Neither felt right for confidential work conversations.

So I spent a year building Thoth in my free time. Everything runs locally on your Mac using WhisperKit. Mixed audio capture without virtual drivers, speaker diarization, local LLM summaries, BYOK for cloud AI if you want it. WiFi off, it still works.

The hardest part was getting mixed audio working, recording both mic and system audio simultaneously using Core Audio instead of a virtual driver. Turns out transcription quality during a Zoom is much better when whisper is fed with both fluxes.
