Our long term quit and I feel bad

I am an out of work teacher who took a job as a paraprofessional in a middle school sped/ID room this year. There are 3 paras in the room including me and the lead teacher, ours is great but she had her baby on the 10th and was in need of a sub. Now the long term job had been out there for weeks, and finally a couple days before our sub took the job. She was somewhat regular in the building, I wasn’t impressed by the one or two classes she had when I took my two buddies through the day, but whatever I’m glad that job got filled. She fist never came in and talked to our lead, she wanted to go over the lesson plans, show her how things work, but this woman just never showed up until the day that was her official start date. She immediately is floundering struggling with technology, struggling with the duties she as the lead is responsible. But hey she’s an older woman, I think she taught a long time and is doing this for extra security. I try to be as understanding as possible and help where I can but the other two paras were not as forgiving.

I really think the other two ran her off, because they did not serve any sugar with their medicine when correcting her. And because they were always so annoyed they weren’t very warm or accepting to her. They are nice ladies, and welcomed me into the fold rapidly. I feel bad that this woman clearly bit off too much than she can chew. She was trying to change too much with a group that was set in their ways at this point of the year, students and staff alike. Hopefully we can get a new sub or the admin will let me do it, as I’m still fully licensed.
