I think Socrates was right.

Socrates said voting in an election is a skill, not a random intuition. And like any skill, it needs to be taught systematically to people. Letting the citizenry vote without an education is as irresponsible as putting them in charge of a trireme sailing to Samos in a storm.

Thinking about this statement today makes me think how correct and apt it is even in today’s time.

With education and basic understanding out of the equation voting is being done on basis of money and popularity. It was very prominent in the north states and now it has reached Tamil Nadu too more than ever.
