My analysis of SRH 2026 (As of 8 completed matches)
Batting
- Recent form of top order is quite good.
- Abhishek has hit back to back 50+ scores, Ishan contributed massively against RR
- Henrich Klaasen, arguably the most consistent of the entire SRH batting lineup and literally the glue holding the entire batting innings together
- NKR regularly chips in, taking some pressure off Klaasen
- Overall, Abhishek and Ishan are doing quite well in powerplay, while Klaasen and NKR handle the middle overs
- The usual firepower we've been doing since 2024
Bowling
- Recent form is very average
- Started the season terribly with Harshal and LORD UNADKAT leaking runs regularly
- Turning point was the first RR match where they introduced Praful and Sakib
- Praful kind of seems like a one hit wonder whereas Sakib has been performing well
- Eshan Malinga has played wonderfully, replacing Harshal as the lead pacer (When Cummins wasn't playing)
- NKR has chipped in when needed albeit he's quite expensive
- Harsh Dubey and Shivang Kumar have handled the spin department very well
- The relatively young bowling attack acts as a Wild Card as international players and even seasoned Indian players aren't aware of the bowling style of this young unit.
Problems
-
The biggest problem is FIELDING. So many dropped catches, very lackluster fielding in the deep. NKR seems to be the only one who actually shows intent on the field
-
The Head Problem: As we all know, Travis Head is not doing much. Even when he crosses 20 runs, he takes more than 15 balls to do so. His underperformance leads to more pressure on the other players to perform in order to make up for his loss
-
The Bowling Attack: As I mentioned before, we have a relatively young bowling attack. This obviously means that they do not have much experience. That lack of experience could result in them crumbling under pressure. During the death overs, too much pressure could cause the young bowlers to crumble and miss their line and length. The only bowlers with experience are Cummins (the most experienced, veteran player), Malinga and NKR. So a fix would most likely be to let the youngsters bowl the powerplay and the middle overs mainly with a few cameos from Malinga and Cummins and to leave the death overs to Cummins and Malinga to complete if the situation calls for it
-
The Batting: Currently, the batting unit is performing quite well. However, the SRH lineup is very inconsistent. The first few matches saw Abhishek, Head and Ishan failing to perform. Klaasen had to bail the entire team out every match and the only support he got was from NKR.
All in all, we have a good team on paper, but execution and pressure management have to be dealt with and Travis Head needs to find his form again if we are to win the cup this season.
