In the [previous](https://reddit.com/r/heroes3/comments/1sy895q/beautiful_tactical_battle_with_bulwark_units/) battle i posted i faced 99 Dendroid Soldiers divided into four stacks. The strategy was explained there.

In this one i face 97 of them, but this time divided into five stacks. The key difference here, compared to the previous one, is that the enemy does not fall for going in the opposite direction (except for one stack). Most of them head for the fortified firing positions of the Elves. What follows is a brutal battle where the War Mammoths and even a Jotunn have to guard the position under continuous assault. Once again, the tent has to heal like crazy and even prioritize the stack which needs the healing more.

Someone made a comment in my previous post: "what's the beauty of facing a slow moving enemy with shooters ?" Well, not quite so. The Steel Elves only have eight shots, and you'll see in this battle they run out of ammo (I even made a mistake by not making way for them to escape the position on time. After running out of ammo i could not use their melee attack except at the end). And compared to other slow-moving enemies, the dendroids can bind a unit in place. The unit either survives and destroys the attacker (or another destroys it), or falls.

Complicating the matters more is the fact that, like in the previous encounter, i set out to not lose a single unit.

The highlight of this battle is the way the War Mammoths and the Jotunn resisted under heavy, continuous assault by the enemy. A special mention is made of the Jotunn on the other side of the battlefield, who got no healing during his brawl with the enemy but still managed to survive and inflict casualties. He was eventually teleported to safety while being heavily wounded. This Jotunn is worthy of being promoted to a Jotunn Warlord.

Another beautiful (but also brutal) battle with Bulwark units
