Need help: Is My Family Cursed? 2 Years of Death, Betrayal, Financial Collapse

Seeking Help or Advice :Cute_Witchy_10_-_112x112:

This is a long and overdue post. I am in a terrible place and I have used AI to put my words in a comprehensible format. I'm sorry about that but I have nothing left in me at the moment. This is a very rough compilation of the past ~2 years. Thank you so much in advance.

I know this is going to sound strange, but I genuinely need outside opinions because my family has been going through an unbelievable chain of misfortune since late 2024, and it has become so extreme that I’ve started wondering whether there is some kind of curse, black magic, or negative energy affecting us, especially my mother, or our family as a whole.

Before all of this, our lives were relatively stable. We were financially comfortable after many years of struggle, we were healthy, and although life was never perfect, we felt protected and extremely blessed. My mother is an incredibly hardworking woman who carried our family for years and was always the breadwinner. She built our life through sheer effort and sincerity.

Everything seemed to begin in late 2024 when my grandfather (my mother’s father) was diagnosed with cancer. It was discovered far too late, even though it may have been preventable if caught earlier. We went through a painful decline with him, trying everything we could to support him, and then we lost him. It was the first major death our family had ever faced, and it devastated all of us.

Around that same time, my mother also discovered that the client whose business she had helped build for many years had secretly been planning with others behind her back to replace her with AI and let her go. My mother had essentially built and maintained that business herself while this client, who also called her her own "sister", barely contributed. She found out accidentally that meetings had been happening behind her back. She quietly resigned. Since then, the stable income that supported our family for almost 2 decades disappeared.

After my grandfather’s death, I had to return abroad to finish college. I was deeply depressed and unsettled. For months, I had disturbing dreams centered around death, decay, rotting, and my grandfather returning in horrific ways. I know dreams can come from grief, but the atmosphere around everything felt dark and disturbing.

Back home, problems began piling up. Our finances became uncertain. My mother tried to start businesses of her own in the same field, but none of them gained traction at first. Friends she trusted betrayed her. Neighbors and building staff caused unnecessary drama, and we developed a bad reputation over petty issues. Our longtime maid, who had always seemed honest and kind, suddenly changed behavior completely, becoming defensive, strange, and at times suspicious. She would mutter or chant under her breath and deny it if asked.

My grandmother also began falling sick repeatedly, which forced my mother to constantly run back and forth caring for her. At the same time, we own a small restaurant that my father was meant to manage, but due to his negligence, it developed problems and a poor reputation, which deeply hurt my mother because much of the money invested into it came from her hard work.

Even my older sister has felt stuck in life—unemployed, struggling with health issues, and unable to progress. I myself worked extremely hard in university, maintained a perfect GPA, built a strong profile, and applied to prestigious graduate programs that were my dream. I was rejected. I also struggled to secure employment despite strong qualifications. Even a connection through one of my mother’s contacts, who confidently said I was an excellent fit for a major company, ultimately led nowhere.

What makes it feel so strange is that many opportunities appear promising and then collapse at the last second. This has happened repeatedly.

There were also odd incidents that added to the feeling that something was wrong. Once, while my grandfather was still ill, I accompanied my grandmother to a dentist appointment. On the way out of the building, two voodoo dolls had suddenly appeared on a windowsill facing us. They had not been there when we entered. It may mean nothing, but it felt unsettling.

Another recurring thing involved my mother seeing centipedes, and shes absolutely terrified of them. On multiple separate occasions, centipedes suddenly appeared when she was in the shower. No one else in the house experienced this, despite all of us using the same bathroom. It happened enough times that it began to feel bizarre. She would run out in horror each time and I'd put them out carefully.

In 2026, the stress in our household had become overwhelming. A couple months ago, my grandma had to move in with us, which has created an extreme chaos and mess and stress in our house. We don't have the best relationship with her, but my mom does love her and that's her only parent now after grandpa's death. She feels responsible to help her with everything. She does need a lot of help with various aspects of her health and lifestyle, so this is a long and ongoing stay. I gave her my room and currently live in a mess in my sister's small room. Things have been extremely hectic and we have had no space or time to breathe with frequent hospital visits, ungratefulness, bratty behaviour, and having to keep serving her calmly through it all. My mom is constantly on edge with work, which i am doing with her, and chores, emotions, and she's recently even had to be given anti anxiety medication after all the hell she has been through. No matter how much we try to help, the responsibility and pain always seems to land on her shoulders. I love her more than anyone and it hurts so much.

We also own a home in the country where I studied. It had been vacant for some time, and family friends asked to rent it. We were happy because we trusted them, and they are as spiritually inclined as us. We warned them clearly that the house was lived-in and needed preparation before becoming tenant-ready, but they insisted they were fine with it. Then war unexpectedly broke out in that country, making it impossible for us to travel there and prepare the property ourselves, as we planned. But they insisted that it was okay and they'd clean up if needed. Empathising for their desperate situation, my mom obliged.

When they arrived, they complained harshly about everything, insulted the condition of the home, and treated us with complete disrespect despite being warned in advance. There had also been an accidental mistake where the refrigerator had been switched off before I left, causing food inside to spoil. We paid to have everything cleaned, but my mother was humiliated that people we trusted spoke so badly about our home and then stopped communicating entirely. After trusting them and letting them into our sacred space, which they insisted on.

Following this, My mother and I recently sat down and spoke honestly. I told her I felt like there might genuinely be some curse or negative force affecting us because the reversal in our life has been so severe. She admitted that she had felt something similar herself. She even said that when good things happen to my sister or me, part of her does not want us to tell her because she fears her misfortune will spread to us. Hearing that broke my heart. She was finally ready to try Lama Fera, a buddhist healing technique meant to be excellent for negative energies or psychic attack. She was previously a little hesitant belonging to a different faith, but kept an open mind and agreed. And then we never got a chance to go, with grandma's hospital visits and one of my cat's vet visits.

My cat, B, who is like my own baby as she was born in my arms, swallowed a needle my mom accidentally left behind. We couldn't find the needle and weren't sure if she ate it or not but she was last next to it. The X-ray showed no needle and we were relieved. And then I came home and found that massive needle in her poop. The vet said it was an absolute miracle that she was perfectly fine. I feel it was my luck that could never ever let anything happen to my baby.

But then the worst thing happened.

We have four cats, and they are not “just pets” to us—they are our ABSOLUTE family, our world, our most prized and precious ones, our babies. One of them, S, was especially bonded to my mother. He was my birthday gift when I was a child and the best gift I could ever ever receive. He was my mom's soulmate in animal form. He had been with us since my childhood. He was the sweetest, most adorable, perfect baby in the world.

Around late 2024 he began having mild health issues involving liver values and occasional vomiting. We treated him, took him to vets, gave medications, and managed flare-ups. He still behaved normally, played, and seemed like himself. He genuinely looked entirely recovered.

Recently, the small symptoms came back. We took him to a new vet who did bloodwork and an X-ray. We were told it was gas and some liver irregularities. He was given medications. He was generally normal, but a little moody with the medications which he despised.

Then literally overnight, S collapsed. He could not keep food or water down, became weak, panted heavily, and nearly fainted all yesterday morning. We rushed him to a larger hospital. They took one look at the X-ray and immediately said there was a massive mass in the liver area, which two of our own vets had either not even looked at, or entirely missed. An ultrasound revealed it was actually a huge abscess—the largest the doctor said he had seen in a cat.

They performed an emergency drainage procedure and warned us it was extremely risky. He survived the procedure, which gave us hope. Over the next hours we watched every blink, every movement, every breath, believing he would recover. We spoke to him, loved him, celebrated every little bit of energy he worked up to move his head, open his big beautiful eyes, though he was still limp. We were waiting for him to get back to his self and take our baby home.

Then suddenly he died.

Just like that, overnight, my mother lost the only one who had never left her side. In a world where so many people failed her, Sugar never did. He chose her. He loved her completely. And he was gone, suddenly. We never ever thought it would touch any of our babies, it was too much and unthinkable. I am still in shock, it's not even been 24 hours when I write this.

Even afterward, we had to drive around all day with his body trying to find somewhere respectful to bury him. People suggested awful dumping grounds. Eventually we found a proper cemetery of my family's religion where he could be buried, though only my father was allowed inside. We got home late in the evening without our little boy. This was the worst day of our lives because that's how much our baby boy meant to us. This is another low we never ever thought our lives would reach.

Since then, we feel shattered. Our lives feel unrecognizable from what they once were. Loss after loss, humiliation after humiliation, failed opportunities, illness, betrayal, strange incidents, and finally losing our brother who meant the most to us, especially my mom.

The scale and timing of everything has made me genuinely question whether there is some kind of curse, black magic, evil eye, or negative energy affecting us. I felt I was the cursed one until I realised all the bad things happening were connected with my mom. I'm extremely worried for her.

I’m posting here because I honestly want outside perspectives. Does this sound like spiritual interference to anyone? What can we do? We are absolutely lost. Our lives feel over. Part of me doesn't even understand why I am asking because the worst of it has happened yesterday. But we still have our 3 beautiful angels to live for and want better for. We want to move on though I can't even picture what it would be like. Please offer your help. Anything. Life has brought me to my knees.

Yes, there are people I suspect, if this is indeed supernatural in nature. I'm still very naive and can't imagine someone actually doing this to us, or to my mom specifically, who is genuinely the purest, most selfless and loving person that I, and everyone who knows her, knows. I'm okay to continue the conversation and tell you more. But thank you for this space and for reading. Please hold on tight to your loved ones.

TL;DR: Since late 2024, my family has faced nonstop misfortune after years of stability. My grandfather died of late-diagnosed cancer, then my mother was betrayed by the client whose business she built and lost our main income. Since then: financial stress, failed opportunities, family illness, betrayals, house chaos, business problems, my career/education plans collapsing, and constant emotional strain. There were also strange incidents that felt ominous. Yesterday, the worst happened—our beloved cat, deeply bonded to my mother, suddenly died after vets missed a massive abscess. After two years of loss after loss, I genuinely wonder if we are cursed.
