Morality is Cool but Proximity to Truth is Better đŸȘ·

Practice

In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna once approached Krishna about an upcoming battle. He asked Krishna how a spiritual aspirant like himself could go to war. How could that jive with his conscience. Krishna replied; “Plunge into the heat of battle but stay at the lotus feet of the Lord” (Awareness, Anthony De Mello)

Now, how come Krishna didn’t teach Arjuna to not kill or to not fight? After all, isn’t non-violence the moral thing to do? That’s because morality isn’t as important as staying at the lotus feet of the lord.

What is the “lotus feet of the lord”? Truth is the lotus đŸȘ· feet of the lord. And what is meant by Truth? Your inner I AM nature is Truth. See, all Christs, all Krishnas, all Buddhas are just archetypes of your inner I AM nature or Awareness Self.

And staying as the Awareness Self automatically makes you a moral, uplifted, and loving person
Sometimes without you even knowing it.

See, religion teaches you to muscle morality. Say you are a habitual liar
The mistake of religion is to tell you that lieing is wrong and to try your best to stop doing that. Well if you try to muscle yourself to stop lieing, you’ll inevitably fail. Because the lieing habit stems from insecurity. It stems from not being at the lotus đŸȘ· feet of the lord
The habit stems from not being your Self or I AM nature. Besides, not all lies are immoral.

The year is 1941 in Vilnius, Lithuania and the German Gestapo visited the apartment of Anton Schmid. They had just received some intel that Schmid, a German Wehrmacht sergeant, was harboring jewish families. The Gestapo agents asked him if he was indeed sheltering jewish families. Schmid said No. He lied. Questions: Was he immoral? Was he wrong?

Morality is cool but proximity to Truth is much better because proximity to Truth is of the heart. You can even go to war like Arjuna did in the Gita and still stay as the enlightened Self.

The enlightened move is always to never judge another’s actions but to look at the heart. I had someone once ask me how to quit watching spicy đŸŒ¶ïž videos
The typical answer would be to shame watching spicy đŸŒ¶ïž videos as immoral and to tell him to stop doing that. But I didn’t give that response; I told him to watch whatever he needs and not feel guilty about it. HOWEVER, more importantly, to try daily to meditate on his inner I AM nature. Meditating and contemplating on his already healed/enlightened nature will automatically draw his consciousness away from certain habits. You’d be surprised at how pure you become in the process of discovering your Self again. Coming close to your I AM nature is like approaching the sun ☀; it will burn off all the shit that can be burned off to reveal that which cannot be touched.

So don’t just strive to be moral or orthodox...just be your Self. You lied about something in the past? It’s ok don’t feel too guilty. Focus on your I AM nature and maybe in the future, you won’t lie again.

Morality that is NOT of the heart can be fake. There was a certain older black comedian named Bill Cosby who used to accuse young black men of thuggish behavior because their pants 👖 were too baggy and they listened to hiphop. Cosby would push himself as some model of morality and wouldn’t even cuss on his standup comedy specials.

Years later, we come to find out that Bill Cosby was drugging and SA-ing young women. But hey he didn’t cuss or wear baggy sagged jeans 👖 or listen to hiphop right? Any morality that isn’t heart-based is not true morality. It’s just faking the funk.

To conclude. If you are engaging in activities that the moral police or religious hierarchy deems as immoral
Truth won’t judge you or give a fuck. Truth only looks at the heart. So don’t worry too much about morality and focus on the proximity to the Truth of what you are. And as you are closer to the Truth of what you are, you are closer to the heart. And home is where the heart is. Namaste đŸ™đŸŸ.
