Do you guys catch every Pokemon wherever you go?

I just started playing and I did this up until Route 2. But I wonder if I should continue doing this. It’s cool to catch everything along the way but it feels like a grind. For example I caught Minior and it took a while to find him, and I feel like he’s not so good at all. What do you guys do?
