Planning a Masjid Matrimonial Event: How Do We Make It Not Cringe?
Salam everyone,
I’m helping organize a matrimonial event at my masjid, and I’m trying to make it actually beneficial, not awkward or forced.
I’ve seen a few different formats and wanted honest feedback on what works best:
- Short 1-on-1 rotations (5–7 mins with guided questions)
- More interactive stuff like bingo/icebreakers to find common interests
- Small group discussions with prompts instead of just a straight “speed meeting.”
For those who’ve attended or helped run events:
- What format felt the most natural and productive?
- What made it feel not cringe?
- What activities actually helped people open up and have real conversations?
Also, how do people feel about charging for an event like this? Does it make people more serious, or does it turn people away?
Any ideas, experiences, or things to avoid would really help. Jazak Allah khair.
