Why does everyone else get the rewards from my work, but never me?

My younger brother – he’s only fifteen – signed up for the freelance platform "Kwork" yesterday. And somehow, he’s already making logos. Not by drawing them, of course. He’s using an AI generator. But here’s the real kicker: I created more than half of his profile for him. The bio, the samples, the whole setup. And guess what happened today? He’s already received a request for his first paid order.

Meanwhile, I also registered yesterday. My field is illustration – original drawings, done by hand. Not a single inquiry. Not even a view. Zero. My gig has been sitting there in complete silence. No one has looked at it. No one knows it exists.

And the most infuriating part? That clueless idiot can’t even write a decent prompt for the neural network. He genuinely doesn’t understand what needs to be done. He reads a client’s request, and his brain just blanks – he has no idea what the task actually requires and how to do it. And yet, he’s the one getting orders.

I built almost his entire profile because my mother forced me to help him. "He’s your brother," she said. So I wrote his description, I generated all of his sample images, I made every single edit. And now, my tablet – the one I need for my own work – has effectively become his. He uses it all the time.

We charge the same price: five bucks per job. My gig has a well-designed cover, a carefully written description, and quality examples. I put real effort into it. His profile is basically a collage of my labor, dressed up as his.

This is a pattern I’ve noticed. Every single time I help someone else – with their work, their ideas, their project descriptions – they end up succeeding. They get the client, the praise, the results. But whenever I do something under my own name, with my own effort? Nothing. Complete silence. As if my name is cursed and my work is invisible.

Why does luck always find its way to other people, but never to me?

Why do others always harvest the fruits of my labor, while I’m left standing in the field with empty hands?
