Is it true that Croats have more affection for Bosnians than for Serbs?

A Croatian I met at work told me I liked Bosnians more than Serbs. Why is it that, despite Catholics and Serbs being Christians, they hate each other? Why is Islam more accepted in Croatia than in Serbia?
