"Something downright peculiar"

My Tyranitar stands at a spot on my Pallet Island and tells me there is "something downright peculiar about this very spot" and why don't I check it out but when I dig there is nothing of note, I just eventually end up in a cave that was already there (I set up some things there and Mimikyu lives there as well).

Any suggestions what this is about?
