Hello guys,

This is not a completely new idea. We already have something similar in Gauntlet events. Of course, Gauntlet is Hardcore, but I think it would be cool to have optional campaign modifiers in the normal game too.

The idea is simple: players could choose some modifiers before running the campaign.

For example:

\- monsters deal more damage + increased quantity
\- monsters have more life + more experience gain
\- player has less defenses + more rare monsters
\- player cursed with random curse + increased pack size
\- unique monsters have more life and damage + currencies from them is doubled
\- unique monsters accompanied with rare monsters +
\- monsters have more attack speed and movement speed + increased rarity
\- monsters have more resistances - more gold quantity
\- add deadly and rewarding monsters on areas +
\- lose 100% of experience on death + 15% increased experience gain
...

So the campaign could have modifiers with upsides and downsides. It would be like maps, but for leveling.

To keep it balanced, maybe this should only unlock after your first character in a league. So your first league-start campaign stays normal, and your second character can use these modes.

But personally, I would also like to use it on the first character as well. Experienced players could choose harder modes and try to beat the campaign with them. For example, if your build is good at killing rares, you could add more rare monsters. If your build has strong single target damage, you could make act bosses harder.

If you select many hard modifiers, it could become a real challenge: can you still finish the campaign if monsters have more damage, more life, more speed, and more resistance?

This would not be for farming currency. The campaign is not really a big farming place anyway. It would mostly be for making leveling more fun and different.

For players who hate the campaign, nothing changes. They can ignore this system. But for players who level many characters, this could make the campaign feel fresh again. I would probably make more characters just to test different campaign modes.

There is a big place for fantasy about how to integrate it and how to implement it. Not all the mods are available at the start, perhaps player needs to complete some challenges to unlock them. And interact to some NPC at the beginning of the Act or the campaign. But that would be really funny. More than that - you could invite your mates to your area and proceed in party with those mods.

What do you think guys?
Do you have some more ideas for mods or how to integrate such mechanic?
