Once I was

I fell in love for the first time about a year and a half ago. I listened to this song for so long now before and it was only the tune I heard, it didn’t quite make sense to me.

It seems like I have only just heard it for the first time, while it played in the background of my shower here during my roamings through Europe.

The woman I love has gone her own way in the world and when Tim said, “soon there will be another to tell you I was just a lie.” I heard it for the first time. Now I understand what that means. They had only just been a string of words before of which the true meaning was obscured due to lack of sentiment.

Once I was a soldier,

Militat omnis amans,

Every lover is a soldier.

Quis nisi vel miles vel amans et frigora noctis,

Who but a lover or a soldier can endure the frozen nights.

I don’t know what my purpose was in even writing this, I have been so profoundly moved and those old string of words about every lover being a soldier came to mind. I wish there was some way I could tie the concepts together. I just think Tim is a genius. After the fallout of my love I stopped listening to music a long time, I still seldom listen to music maybe a song a week or so, and I may have just found the spark again, comfort amidst the travail.
