Imported a Carry, but it's 1000 miles to the port. Drivers keep refusing to pick it up.

I've got a 2001 Suzuki Carry sitting at the Tacoma port right now. It's all clear for pickup. But, I'm having trouble finding a transport company that will actually go and pick it up (willing to deal with the port, has TWIC card / is willing to hire TWIC escort).

I got quotes for auto transport back in February, and I found a broker that's responsive. He's spent multiple days talking with drivers who keep refusing to pick up from the port, or don't have TWIC cards. Now my transport quote is around double what it was originally, ($750 -> $1460-1500) and I still don't have a confirmation that the driver can actually pick it up.

Am I getting reamed at this price? Should I fly out and get it myself? (I've got travel points so I don't mind doing that) If I do that, what's the best way? How do you guys get your vehicles from the port? Do I have to tow it? Or could I just drive it home?
