**Company:** Chevron Corporation
**Ticker:** CVX

**Report Date:** **May 2, 2026, before market open (expected).** The conference call is typically **around 11:00 AM ET.**

**📊 Wall Street Expectations (Q1 2026)**

**Estimated EPS:** about **$2.85 to $3.00**.
**Estimated Revenue:** about **$49B to $52B**.
Estimates are a bit wider here because results are heavily tied to commodity prices, especially crude oil and refined products.

**📈 Key Things Traders Are Watching**

**Oil and gas production levels (especially Permian Basin)**
This is probably the biggest driver. Chevron has been leaning heavily on production growth, particularly in the Permian. Q1 is a check on whether volumes are still increasing and offsetting any pricing pressure.

**Realized commodity prices (oil, gas, LNG)**
Earnings are highly sensitive to pricing. Even if production is strong, lower realized oil or gas prices can weigh on results. Investors will be watching both crude and natural gas realizations closely.

**Refining margins and downstream performance**
This is a major swing factor. Refining margins were strong in prior periods but have been volatile. Q1 results will show whether downstream earnings are helping offset upstream variability.

**Capital spending and project execution**
Chevron continues to invest heavily in long-term projects (including LNG and international developments). Investors will watch whether capex stays disciplined and aligned with returns.

**Free cash flow and shareholder returns (dividends + buybacks)**
Cash generation is critical for oil majors. The market will want to see whether Chevron is still generating strong free cash flow to support its dividend and buyback program.

**Balance sheet strength and leverage**
Chevron has maintained a strong balance sheet relative to peers. Investors will look for continued discipline, especially in a potentially softer commodity environment.

**Last quarter for context**
In **Q4 2025**, Chevron reported about **$48.6B in revenue**, **EPS around $3.45**, solid upstream performance, and continued strong cash returns to shareholders.

**My read:**
For **CVX**, this feels like a **production + commodity price** call first and a **free cash flow** call second. If they come in around the current setup but show production is still growing, refining is stable, and cash flow remains strong enough to support buybacks and dividends, that probably matters more than a small beat or miss on EPS.
