I’m posting this BWC video to Reddit in hopes that some people can review and comment on this and the way it was handled. This full FOIA requested unedited footage as never been seen by anyone until now! This OIS happend in my hometown towards the end of last year. I’m very firmliar with dept. And I am also a FIRE/EMS first responder in the area! This incident drew a lot of media attention in our local news! Long story short a white male was behind an auto parts store in town apparently messing with ac units when someone called 911 for possible suspicious activity. City Police started that way to go check it out. Assistant Chief went enroute due to being very close by,and when he got there he observed the male with a sharp metal object in his hand with a few cuts on the wrist and called for back up and immediately engaged, possibly a piece of ac unit he was messing with is what he had in his hand. Officer engaged and you can watch the rest! Another off duty sheriffs deputy was near by at the auto parts store(which he actually works at part time and happen to still be in uniform)assisted the PD,you will see him in the video as well. Our city police dept has been in shambles for a while and has a horrible track record and the officer and the chief were not fit for the job this was the 3rd police chief the city has went through in 2025. If you search the term “New Roads Police” in google you will find all sorts of bad articles about the dept. The city recently just hired a new police chief a month ago. FYI: The victim has made a recovery and is now sueing the department. All public. Attached is an actual statement from the State Police after the incident happend.

“ New Roads – Louisiana State Police detectives continue the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in New Roads. On September 19, 2025, the New Roads Police Department (NRPD) was dispatched to 1270 Hospital Road to respond to a complaint of a subject causing a disturbance behind a local business.

When responding officers arrived on scene, they encountered the subject, later identified as 45-year-old John Sexton of New Roads. During the encounter, an officer discharged his service weapon at Sexton, striking him several times. Sexton was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable condition. This remains an active investigation, and further information will be released when it becomes available. “
