Any reason mintless tea could taste like nothing at all to me?
I used to really enjoy drinkinb tea with my parents every night as a kid, normally some kind of blend with mint. As I got older though, I developed an allergy. Now, every other tea I try tastes like nothing more than hot (slightly sweet, if I add sugar) water.
I've tried brewing with near-boiling water, I've tried overnight cold brewing, and I've tried all sorts of brands from thirty dollar cakes to herbal tea bags. The only time when I get any sort of taste at all is when I severely over steep it in hot water (like ten to fifteen minutes), and even then the only thing I get is bitter dryness from the tannins.
I know I don't have covid, and I feel like I've tested every bland I can, from Indian chai to English black to Japanese green to Chinese yellow, and I've had no luck whatsoever. They all just taste like hot dirt water. To be frank, I have no clue what I could be doing wrong at this point.
So, title question. Is there any concevable reason this could be happening?
