I tested 500+ AI prompts so you don't have to. Here's what actually works
I've been obsessed with getting better results from AI tools, and after months of testing, I found one thing that makes the biggest difference—the quality of your prompt.
Most people type one sentence and wonder why the output is garbage. Here's what I learned:
The difference between a bad and good prompt:
Bad: "Write me a caption"
Good: "Write 5 Instagram captions for a [niche] account targeting [audience]. Make each one a different tone: educational, funny, inspirational, personal story, and controversial. End each with a CTA."
The second prompt gets you something you can actually use. The first gets you trash.
Here are 5 prompt frameworks that work every time:
-
Always tell the AI what ROLE to play — "Act as a [expert]" before every prompt dramatically improves output quality
-
Always give CONTEXT — who is the audience, what is the goal, what tone do you want
-
Always specify the FORMAT — bullet points, numbered list, email, script, table
-
Always give a LENGTH — short, medium, long, under 100 words etc
-
Always end with a CONSTRAINT — "make it conversational" or "avoid jargon" or "be direct"
These 5 things alone will transform your AI results.
Happy to answer any questions in the comments.
