Two days in and I'm replacing QuickBooks with vibes

Ok quick story. I do the books for a small Montana casino. QuickBooks has been bleeding us for years and it still can't handle half of what we actually do. Vault reconciliation, ATM cash tracking, weird casino specific stuff. We've been duct taping spreadsheets around it forever.

Two days ago I thought, what if I just built it. For us. Our exact workflow, no subscription.

48 hours later I have a working general ledger. Journal entries, chart of accounts, period close. P&L and balance sheet that balance. Deposit reports with vault math QB can't touch. Receipt uploads that read themselves. Shift report emails that parse themselves into the system.

I'm not a full time engineer. I'm a guy who wanted out of the Intuit tax. Claude did most of the typing, I told it what we needed, we shipped over the weekend.

Still tons left. Bank rec, full payroll, all the tax forms. But the bones are there and it works.

The part that keeps hitting me is how recent this all is. A year ago I would have laughed at the idea of building my own accounting software. Two days, one weekend, and I'm running our books on something I made.

Vibing my way to freedom isn't a meme, it's a plan.
