To replace, or not to replace, the transmission filter?

Have a 2012 honda crv iv been working on. It has a transmission shutter going on, as these cars are known for. I know a good few drain and fills on it usually fixes the problem from what iv researched. But what i want to know, is should i bother replacing the transmission filter? The car is still new to me and I dont know the previous maintenance history on it. It has 188,885 miles on it. If its not necessary, id like to avoid the extra work.
