Books like Lakewood?

Hello! I just read Lakewood by Megan Giddings and I loved it so much. I’m not gonna spoil anything but the overall plot is that a young Black woman enrolls in a government backed experiment on memory, which ends up being much darker than expected. What I liked about the book was both the social commentary and the eerie/unsettling feel, I felt deeply uncomfortable but at the same time it filled me with rage. Do you have any suggestions for books similar to this? It can be both fiction and non-fiction on real life unethical projects and the like. Thanks!
