X440t vs 400x
So I was ready to buy the 400x(350) it seemed to tick all the boxes , comfort , suspension, engine refinement, soft off-road ,etc - basically I wanted an all-rounder and it is.
And then I rode the x440t, just to cross it out of the list , and man that was a very good engine. I was giggling for a fair bit of the test ride.
Logically the scrambler makes more sense, but harley's engine is just too damn good and I'm genuinely confused,if i should go with the harley.
And mind this the only reason for this is for the engine's character, because on every other aspect the scrambler is objectively the better bike.
I think the basis of the confusion, if I think about it boils down to fomo.
Ps: i would like to point out , what I like and don't like in both the machines, so I could get context better.
Harley:
What i like
-
It has got an amazing characteristic engine, which matches my personality better.
-
It can be a very good highway tourer
What i don't like
- It is limited to road use
Triumph
What i like
-
It is a take it anywhere machine , which is one the primary reasons I wanted to buy a motorcycle in the first place.
-
It's sporty nature is not something I will want everyday, but the occasional thrills I would get has to be factored in
-
A good motorcycle to upgrade my skills.
-
It looks gorgeous
-
It's a machine I've been eyeing for over a year
The reason for the dilemma is the difference in personality, I need a soulful motorcycle, but also don't worry about road bikes. Since both the bikes offer one of that personality ,I'm not able to choose.
The reason I didn't consider the Himalayan is because it doesn't have the same character, while it eats up any terrain , it is not nimble enough.
My ideal motorcycle would be the scrambler 900, and both of its primary characters have been spoiled into two motorcycles I want.
Also if I had never ridden the harley, there would not be any confusion, and I would have gone for the scrambler.
Also I would like to ask one more thing
-
Will i outgrow the harley
-
Will I miss the lack of charcter in the scrambler
