Olivia’s tour will be an interesting test for Ontario’s ban on higher resale prices
Ontario recently banned ticket resellers from charging more than face value, which completely cancels the scalper business of charging exorbitant rates for tickets. This is such great news, but it will be interesting to see how this impacts tickets sales for Olivia’s tour. It’s one of the first major tours to be announced since the anti-scalper law happened, and I wonder if it means the scalpers that usually used bots to buy thousands of seats for the purpose of selling for higher prices will not do this anymore. If they can’t sell for higher prices why would they bother paying so much money for thousands of tickets that they’ll be forced to sell at face value and make no money. Hopefully this makes it easier for actual fans to buy tickets. That’s the intention anyway, hopefully it actually works out this way.
