Am I Alone?

Culture & Society

I am a 23-year-old who still lives at home with my parents (not by choice). I work a full-time job of 40-45 hours a week and a part-time job of 5-10 hours a week. I am also attending online college classes. All to say I'm still poor. With the older generation saying, "Oh, you still live with your parents, you're 23!? How do you work two jobs and still have no money? You must be spending it on stupid stuff." Karen, I can't afford anything, especially frivolous items. I feel like I'm stuck permanently. Seeing others buy a house, have kids, and live as a "real adult" with everything seeming like an impossible dream. I work to live, and I live to work. Does anyone else feel like this? Why is the simple act of being alive so expensive? I feel like an animal in a cage at this point.
