Republicans are sold a lie that France (specifically Paris) is Overrun and scary, here’s my thought as to why

I went to Paris last year, and had an absolutely amazing time. Felt incredible safe, walked and biked everywhere, heck I took the train from downtown all the way to Disney Paris.

Over the past year, I’ve told countless people I’ve visited Paris. And it’s really odd, everyone I know that identifies with being slightly on the right, were like “oh man it must have been scary”, “dang hopefully you stuck to the nice parts”, “yada yada glad you didn’t get stabbed”.

I see it online too, and honestly thought it was going to be worse.

NO. IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING.

My thought is, powers at be, want Americans to think France and Paris is “overrun” and all these other bullshit buzzwords so they don’t go there. If more Americans went, they’d realize, holy shit Paris is amazing.

Having a walkable place with amazing parks, people living and talking, food free of chemicals and bullshit, a government that actually takes care of people. Americans would realize how much we get fucked over.

And yes, we saw the big American touristic groups that stuck out like a sore thumb. You know the type if you’ve been to Europe or been to the Caribbean *not* on a cruise, and then the cruise boats show up. And yea, I’m sure they got swarmed by leeches, because holy shit you could feel the ground shake when they walked by. The American groups be so loud, demanding, and standoffish (probably bc they thought Paris was a shithole).

But if you’re a normal person, try to say a few things in French, and are not some fat American who expects everyone to suck up to you, the French people are amazing.

It’s very weird. I saw a bunch of insta posts today trying to say the same bullshit.

The city was amazing, their subway was busy but fucking cool as fuck, I ate sweets and ate way to much but felt amazing after every meal, parks were amazing - kids and families playing and laughing. Man, I want to go back so bad.

Has anyone else experienced this propaganda for Americans to be afraid of Paris?
