Diagnostic test Genetics
Files for Cardiac claim stemming from hyperlipidemia (high lipids) that I had in my last 3 years of my 23 year career. Upon retirement it advanced to cardiovascular disease (CAD). Claim under the M21-1 manual that allows for the claim when lab tests indicate the cause of a disease. Claim denied as C&P examiner stated my issue is due to family history genetics.
Filed as obesity intermediate to several orthopedic issues causing CAD. Denied by same examiner due to genetics. Rater approved favorable results but stated outweighed by genetics.
Cardiologist ordered a Diagnostic FH genetic test for the variants of FH. Negative results. FH is specific ax it starts at birth. Filed Supplemental. Had C&P but VBA ordered a TERA exam. Claim denied. Filed HLR…denied due to genetics. Diagnostic test clearly ignored.
Pending coordination with my cardiologist for referral to medical center genetics clinic. Clearly I need a medical opinion from a specialist.
