my two cents on the mospod
before someone gets super triggered, this is just my personal opinion and you’re free to scroll past.
the podcast became like a winding down ritual for me especially whilst driving and has evolved into me listening to the pod while driving everyday and the podcast has helped me a huge deal in providing varied perspectives on both the little and big things that irked and piqued me, as a whole its amazing, without a doubt and it shows that they put in a lot of effort without sounding cocky and condescending.
having said that, in the last five episodes and in almost every other ep in bits and pieces i’ve noticed how naina constantly tries to make herself the victim in every case and tries to direct the attention to herself which is so annoying, she’s always cribbing and complaining about every little thing and in a recent episode she shared that her therapist told her to not talk to her which i completely understand because i bet it must be their first time encountering such a self absorbed person.
the audacity to talk about how she’s so affected by “whatever is happening in the world” whilst benefiting from the very capitalistic exploitative system herself is so ironic, no you can’t just take a garb of mental health and masquerade as being an influencer who is socially conscious and a feminist while supporting fast fashion, support palestine while doing a mac ad and then cry about how the global socio-pol(itical) crisis is making you worrisome. like you’re yourself aiming to be the petty bourgeoisie and benefitting from the system. you’re literally an influencer and you’re not someone who is doing something ground breaking or saving lives, you’re just someone who is doing mere lip service and yapping through a podcast about your sob story like ‘kim there’s people that are dying’, your profession is literally a product of late stage capitalism and you act as a catalyst of platform capitalism so what exactly are you preaching about here? choice feminism and the burden of the money you make out of the platform and the system you selectively choose to criticise and feel bad about? and then provide justifications for your “choice” of working with fast fashion brands, you’re not doing any of us any favours, pls spare us the trouble it’s hard to watch you always be the victim, get off your high horse. not going to appreciate sakshi for the bare minimum but she doesn’t try hard to be a wannabe who pretends to care about the environment and the state of the world.
i’m gonna stop listening to the podcast because it’s just nainapod at this point, i didn’t subscribe to being a part of her pity party and at this point she should launch her own sobpod. so annoying for someone who is ‘so well read and knows so much’, barely ever reads the room and barely assesses that her entire existence and career is based off of her petty bourgeoisie aspirations. yuck!
