My controller won't wake up

When I tried to get on my headset my right controller wouldn't wake up and I couldn't figure out why, so I unpaired it and tried to reconnect, but it just says it has a software update, but whenever I let it get to 100 percent it just tells me to repeat the steps to pair a controller, but instead of actually doing its job and working, the light just keeps blinking instead of reconnecting
