Gabapentin for sleep?

I take anywhere from 100-300 mg but honestly i dont feel a thing and have experienced many sleepless nights on it as if it had the adverse reaction to it.

Every time i tell people im on it, they say its a medicine for pets and are thrown off by the fact that its used for a sleep aid, is it an effective sleep medicine because i feel like its a placebo?
