After his release from prison, former Waffen-SS officer Kurt Meyer, who was convicted of his complicity in the executions of 18 Canadian prisoners of war, became active in HIAG, a lobby group for Waffen-SS veterans. Meyer later became a beer salesman to Canadian NATO forces in Germany.
