question about trying to recover loss of value from your insurance company of somebody who hit me
I drive a 2025 Tesla model S with less than 10,000 miles on it.
Recently somebody damaged my rear bumper in a parking lot incident. He took responsibility for it and his insurance company paid for the repair. It was not serious damage. It just needed a new bumper cover. The car is good as new, but of course it will now have a signal on the Carfax that it’s been an accident which certainly reduces its value a bit.
How does one go about approaching the insurer for compensation for this and how does one demonstrate the amount? It’s difficult to establish a used value for such a new car because not many of them have hit the used market so even getting that number is challenging not to mention how to calculate what the potential loss would be.
Location: I am in the state of Connecticut.
Thank you in advance.
