Getting Islamic/Nikah Marriage Done Through Ajman Court as Tourist(US Citizen) + UAE Resident

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand the exact process for getting an Islamic/Sharia/Nikah marriage done legally through Ajman Court.

I’m a US citizen currently in the UAE on a tourist visa. My fiancée is a UAE resident and has an Emirates ID issued from Ajman. We currently live in Dubai, but we were told that since her Emirates ID is from Ajman, the Islamic marriage contract should be done through Ajman courts.

The reason we’re doing this is because we need to be legally married for a future U.S. spousal immigration process, and since we’re Muslims, we want to do the Islamic/Sharia marriage properly through the court.

I found this Ajman page for “Getting Marriage Contract”:

https://www.ajman.ae/en/happiness-bundle/services/marriage/getting-marriage-contract

But I’m not fully sure if this is the correct service for an Islamic/Sharia/Nikah marriage, or if there’s another official page specifically for Islamic marriage requirements.

Has anyone gone through this process recently in Ajman?

I’d really appreciate help with:

  1. Is the Ajman “Getting Marriage Contract” service the correct one for an Islamic/Sharia/Nikah marriage?
  2. Is there an official Ajman Court/Judiciary link that clearly lists the required documents for an Islamic/Sharia marriage?
  3. What documents are required from both sides, especially since I’m a US citizen on a tourist visa and my fiancée is a UAE resident with an Ajman Emirates ID?
  4. Does the premarital medical checkup have to be done in Ajman, or would a Dubai medical checkup be accepted by Ajman Court?
  5. Are wali/guardian documents required, and does the wali need to be physically present?
  6. Do any documents need Arabic translation or attestation?
  7. Is there an official Ajman court number, WhatsApp, or office we can contact before going?
  8. Do we need to book an appointment online, or can we walk in?

We live in Dubai, so I’m trying to avoid making multiple trips to Ajman without having the correct documents.

Any recent first-hand experience or official contact info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
