Mandarin Immersion Program (Free public school)

Community Post

Hi all. I’ve posted this before during the enrollment period but I thought it would be worth posting again in case some parents missed it or are still weighing out school options for the fall.

We currently attend Bergeson elementary school in Laguna Niguel and love our experience. This is a public school in the Capistrano school district although transfers are commonly accepted. We have a range of native Mandarin and non Mandarin speakers who all chose to attend our school for different reasons from wanting their kids to speak and write it to wanting to give their kids a leg up in college admissions and their future careers.

The official enrollment period is closed but I know there are still open spots for TK-1st grade where kids don’t need to test to get in. TK is actually expanding for 2026-2027 so there are more open spots. You can call the school directly and set up a tour with our principal and get more info on enrolling. 2nd grade and above need to pass a Mandarin test to enroll and the school can assist with that as well.

The community of families is unique. They are all welcoming, helpful and always looking out for each other. PTA throws great events all year long and there is a ton of parent involvement. Happy to answer any questions.
