I fear we won’t have a republican president for a few terms since Trump had ruined the reputation of the Republican Party

Discussion 🗯️

I’m probably gonna get pushback for this, but I think Republicans might be in for a rough few election cycles—and a big part of that is Trump.

Before anyone jumps on me, I’m not saying every policy he pushed was bad or that he didn’t have support for a reason. But politically speaking, his impact on the image of the Republican Party has been pretty damaging, especially with younger voters and independents.

A lot of people now associate the GOP less with conservative principles (limited government, strong economy, etc.) and more with chaos, constant controversy, and personality-driven politics. Whether that’s fair or not doesn’t really matter—perception wins elections. And right now, that perception isn’t great outside the core base.

Another issue is that Trump kind of reshaped the party around himself. That made it harder for new Republican leaders to step up and build their own identity. If every candidate is compared to him—or expected to act like him—it limits the party’s ability to adapt and appeal to a broader audience.

Meanwhile, Democrats have been better at locking in younger voters, and that gap could matter more and more over time if Republicans don’t adjust messaging and strategy.

I’m not saying the GOP is done or that it can’t recover—but I do think it’s going to take a few election cycles, new leadership, and a clearer focus on policy over personality to rebuild trust with voters who’ve drifted away.

Curious what you guys think—am I off here or does anyone else see this trend too?
