I watched the movie last night and…

Opinion

It was honestly really good. While I can understand the criticisms of wanting more storylines based around the troubles of his life, I feel that the movie did a great job of capturing his essence and aura. Excuse me, *Jaafar* did an AMAZING job embodying Michael’s essence and aura. I found myself saying out loud multiple times how proud I am of him and how amazing he was doing. I also feel like the movie did an amazing job at shining light onto Michael’s childlike wonder and how he never lost that. When the frame froze on the Peter Pan picture in the book for an extended time & when the Charlie Chaplin scene on the tv was shown, when he came home even as a teenager wanting to play board games with his brothers and they brushed him off completely. Things like that reminded me of why I related so much to Michael to begin with and it made me very emotional because something I fight to hold onto is my childlike wonder and refuse to let the world dim it. So it made me so happy to see them intentionally highlight the things that meant a lot to him and that shaped who he was as a person and why he has that childlike wonder about him.

The human nature scene brought tears to my eyes. He had that Michael glow all around him and the way he had all of Michael’s movements down to a science… no notes. This movie was very cathartic and like a warm glimmer of Michael through Jaafar and I’m so happy for him that he got to honor his uncle in this way. I hope he feels proud of himself for this.

Looking forward to see where they take the movie in part 2!
