small talk in a salon

regrettably i’m a fake blonde so when i inevitably need to touch up my roots i have to sit in the chair for around five hours. i’m seeing someone new after i immigrated so this is a big deal for me and i have this fear that if they think i’m socially inept or a pushover they’ll do a bad job because they’d figure that i won’t confront them on it. this has happened to me before, especially when i say i prefer not to be on camera. does anyone have any advice?
