Two weeks ago, an interesting incident occurred in the Xbox Store: due to a technical error, one of inXile Entertainment's games temporarily became completely free. This was *Wasteland Remastered*, a remaster of the classic RPG originally released in 2020. The story could have ended predictably, but the developers decided otherwise.

The problem was compounded by the fact that the version players managed to grab was non‑functional. Once the bug was discovered, inXile and Microsoft quickly closed the loophole and revoked the licenses from everyone who had added the game to their library.

In most similar cases, that's where the story ends - the game ended up in players' hands by accident, so it gets taken back. But inXile took a different path: not only did they decide to let those who grabbed the game keep it, but they also replaced the broken version with a working one.

The studio wrote on social media:

Meanwhile, inXile is working on *Clockwork Revolution*, a first‑person RPG with time‑manipulation mechanics. The game is positioning itself as a mix of *Fallout* and *BioShock*. Studio head Brian Fargo previously said that the team aims to "bring the level of reactivity from our isometric games into the first‑person format." Against this backdrop, getting acquainted with *Wasteland Remastered* and *Wasteland 3* is especially fitting.

inXile didn't take away the Wasteland remaster from gamers who got it for free due to a bug and even replaced the broken version with a working one.
