I have a major phobia of bat related rabies that I cannot shake. Tonight I switched on a light and felt something touch my hand when I did it and now I can't shake the fear that it was a bat hanging from the fan dial above the light switch. Spent a further 10 minutes looking for the bat, including moving cardboard boxes. Once again felt a sensation of something touching the back of my leg while I dismantled the boxes so my fear went to 'Did it hide inside the box and get disturbed by me moving it, grazing my leg? In my country they're not always the size of hamsters, they can be the size of a finger and sit on the tip of your thumb for the tineist species. I feel like I'm going to throw up from panic. I live with parents who don't understand my fear and get angry with me. We have massive antique paintings on the walls which I'm not allowed to move to check behind, and it's driving my rabies ocd so wild that I am hyperventilating. I'm afraid that they are fast enough to avoid detection or hide before I sight them, but I am also so unhinged thinking everything is a bat. How do I trust that I am safe? I just want to be safe and this is eating me, especially so because my house does have a lot of infrastructure damage and gaps that make me borderline psychotic with hypothetical entries.
